A quick weeknight dinner idea, this air fryer orange chicken is easy to make. The crispy, tangy orange chicken is coated in a flavorful sauce and is a great alternative to takeout.
1 ½poundsboneless, skinless chicken breastscut into 1-inch pieces
½cupcornstarch
½teaspoonsalt
¼teaspoonblack pepper
1egg
1tablespoonwater
cooking spray
Orange Chicken Sauce
½cuporange juice
¼cupsoy sauce
3tablespoonshoney
2tablespoonsrice vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
1teaspoonsesame oil
½teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoonground ginger
¼teaspoonred pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
In a bowl, whisk the egg and water together. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
Dip the chicken pieces into the egg mixture, then coat them in the cornstarch mixture.
Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the chicken in a single layer. Lightly spray the tops with more cooking spray.
Air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and cooked through.
While the chicken cooks, prepare the sauce by combining orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes.
Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until well coated.
