This chocolate acorn cookies recipe is the perfect treat for fall. Wafer cookies, chocolate kisses, and butterscotch chips create a fun and flavorful treat for autumn.
Place your mini Nilla wafers upside down on a baking sheet or cutting board.
In a small bowl, microwave the frosting in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until melted.
Allow the frosting to cool slightly.
Place a small bit of the chocolate onto the bottom of the Nilla wafers, and attach a Hershey’s kiss candy to each one. Place them in refrigerator to chill for about 15 minutes.
Then, add a dab of chocolate to the top of the wafers and attach the butterscotch chips.
Attach the butterscotch chip to the top of the Nilla wafer cookie.
Repeat this for all of the candies, and then chill for 15 minutes more.
Notes
Chocolate frosting is used as a “glue” to hold together the butterscotch chips, wafers, and candy kisses.
It’s important to let the cookies chill in the fridge so that the frosting sets, keeping the cookies together.
To secure the cookies even more, add a bit of frosting around the kisses and the chips.
Store these easy acorn candy cookies in a cool place in an airtight container. You can also keep these chocolate acorn cookies in a Ziplock bag, just make sure it's in a cool area so the chocolate doesn't melt.
