These red white and blue deviled eggs use food coloring, vinegar, and a creamy yolk filling to create a patriotic appetizer for summer holidays and cookouts.

Ingredients

blue food coloring
Instructions
Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, cover, remove from the heat, and let stand for 12 minutes.
Transfer the eggs to cold water. Once cooled, peel and slice in half lengthwise. Remove the yolks and place them in a bowl.
In two separate bowls, combine warm water, vinegar, and food coloring. Soak the egg whites until they reach the desired shade of red and blue.
Rinse the egg whites gently and pat dry.
Mash the yolks with the mayonnaise and salt until smooth.
Spoon or pipe the filling into the colored egg whites.
Chill until ready to serve.
Notes
Longer soaking times create deeper colors.
Gel food coloring can be used instead of liquid food coloring.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Double the recipe for larger parties and BBQs.
Pat the egg whites dry before filling them.
