These no bake patriotic angel food kabobs are a sweet treat to serve at 4th of July parties, Memorial Day celebrations, and summer gatherings. The kabobs are made with fresh berries, angel food cake, and a cheesecake like frosting.
With an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat for about a minute until well combined.
Add the cool whip and mix until completely incorporated.
Scoop the frosting into a decorating bag with a drop flower piping tip (#2D) attached.
Cut the angel food cake log into small squares. You will need around 44 square chunks of cake for 12 skewers.
Begin by making the 4 skewers with the blueberries. You will need 3 pieces of cake, 3 strawberry halves, and 3 blueberries for these skewers.
Start by adding a piece of cake, then a strawberry, and alternate until you’ve added all 3 pieces. Next add the 3 blueberries.
Lay the skewer on your platter and use it as a pattern to make the next 3 skewers, checking to make sure the strawberries and cake line up each time.
Once your blueberry skewers are complete, make the rest of the skewers the same way, except adding an extra piece of cake instead of the blueberries. These skewers will have 3 strawberries and 4 pieces of cake.
Using your piping bag, add a dollop of frosting to each piece of cake.
