Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets
  • Spices: garlic, ginger
  • Flavor boosters: honey, soy sauce, brown sugar
  • Cornstarch: this will help chicken up the sauce
  • Garnish (optional): scallions, sesame seeds

How To Make Teriyaki Salmon in the Air Fryer

To make the homemade teriyaki sauce (skip if using store bought sauce): heat the garlic, ginger, honey, about 3/4 of the water, and brown sugar in a sauce pan and whisk until the sugar dissolves and the sauce starts to thicken.

In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch and remaining water to create a slurry. Add it to the sauce pan and whisk the mixture until it thickens to a glossy consistency (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Marinate the salmon: Put the fillets in a large dish or ziplock bag. Pour the teriyaki mixture over the salmon and refrigerate for 15 minutes. If you’re using a dish, you’ll want to cover the salmon before putting it in the fridge.

Cook the salmon: Place the marinated salmon in the air fryer for about 12 minutes or until the salmon is flaky and cooked through. You can make it extra saucy by brushing more teriyaki sauce on the filets 2-3 minutes before they’re done cooking.

Garnish: (optional) sprinkle the sesame seeds and scallions over the salmon.
